How to pick a winner

Each Way

Gunmetal Grey (Pinjarra Park Race 8 No. 11):
This three-year-old grey filly mare has only had three starts but has a win and a place. After winning her maiden on debut she finished 2.77 lengths 6th in a bunched finish over 1200m at Ascot on 9 December, then fought hard but was overhauled in the final strides for 0.24, 0.38 lengths 3rd over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 28 December. She is a nice type and looks a good each-way bet again.

Melarab (Pinjarra Park Race 9 No. 9):
This four-year-old Blackfriars gelding is the early favourite in this Class 5 handicap over 1600m. He had to come wide and ran on strongly for 0.55, 0.26 lengths 3rd over 1400m at Ascot on 28 November, then got too far back when 3.86 lengths 7th over 1400m at Ascot on 12 December. With several last start winners in the field he doesn’t represent value.
