Our Northam Horse Racing Tips for Thursday’s meeting.

Pink Carats (Northam Race 1 No. 2)
This three-year-old I Am Invincible gelding trained by Simon Miller has been runner-up at both of his starts. On debut he was outkicked late for 0.2 length 2nd over 1100m at Northam on 2 May where he was nearly 4 lengths ahead of the 3rd horse, then he chased gamely for 1 length 2nd over 1000m at Northam where he had the best final 400m of the meeting. Has a 3kg claim here and will be very hard to beat.

Each Way

Dash Doll (Northam Race 7 No. 6):
This four-year-old So Secret mare has had two wins from her three starts. She fought hard to edge ahead in the final strides for a 0.24 length win in a Class 1 over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 28 December, then got a heavy bump near the start and didn’t finish as well as others for 3.1 lengths 4th in a Class 3 handicap over 1200m at Ascot on 20 January. Resumes from an 18 week spell and won first-up last time. Looks a nice each-way chance.

My Mate (Northam Race 5 No. 8):
This three-year-old God Has Spoken is the early favourite in this maiden race over 1300m. He is unraced but has two recent trials where he ran 2nd of 11 at Lark Hill then 4th of 7 at Lark Hill. Several other runners have been placed in races and he looks a risk at the short price.

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Best Bet What A Cross (Sale Race 1 No. 10) Big finale on debut and looms at likeable odds here. Was smacked in betting then and almost pulled off the plunge when flying to the line. Looks a huge chance here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
