Our Bordertown Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

Bear Arms (Bordertown Race 6 No. 6)
This five-year-old Americain mare trained by Jordan Frew at Murray Bridge has five wins and 11 places from 37 starts and has excellent form on heavy tracks. She was well back in the field and passed a few plodders late for 10.6 lengths 9th over 1800m at Murray Bridge on 13 June, then improved 3 wide from the 800m to hit the lead approaching the turn and kept going strongly to draw away for a 5.5 length win over 2000m at Naracoorte on a soft track on 27 June. With the expected heavy track she can make it back-to-back wins.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Sweet Distraction (Bordertown Race 5 No. 2):
This five-year-old Snitzel mare has two wins and five places from 19 starts. She angled clear at the top of the straight and raced up to hit the lead at the 100m and drew clear for a 1.7 length win over 1100m at Penola on 30 May, then led on the rails but was gunned down in the final strides for 0.5 length 2nd over 1000m at Murray Bridge on 13 June. She has a 3kg claim and is worth an each-way bet.

Best Lay

Kzsczot (Bordertown Race 7 No. 4):
This four-year-old Canford Cliffs gelding is the early favourite in this BM 58 handicap over 1550m. On debut he was slowly away and was never in it when 5.5 lengths 9th over 1000m at Morphettville Parks on 12 June, then he raced up to hit the lead at the top of the straight and kept going strongly to hang on for a 0.2 length win over 1430m at Naracoorte on 27 June. This is harder than a maiden race and he has drawn barrier 17 so I am prepared to risk him.
