Our Mount Gambier Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

Fast ‘N’ Forward (Mount Gambier Race 5 No. 4)
This five-year-old Foxwedge mare is trained at Mount Gambier and goes well here. She worked home strongly out wide for 2.2 lengths 2nd over 1600m at Hamilton on 31 May, then hit the lead approaching the turn and fought hard to keep them all at bay for a 0.6 length win over 1573m at Mount Gambier on 19 June. Goes well on soft going and should win on her home track.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Ali Orphan (Mount Gambier Race 7 No. 9):
This eight-year-old Alamosa mare has been in the trifecta at seven of her eight starts at this track. She was slowly away and settled well back before chasing strongly for 0.5 length 2nd over 1550m at Mount Gambier on 29 May, then chased strongly again for 0.6 length 2nd over 1573m at Mount Gambier on 19 June. Looks a great each-way chance.

Weightman (Mount Gambier Race 4 No. 9):
This three-year-old Contributer gelding trained by Symon Wilde is the early favourite in this 3YO & Up Maiden Plate over 2062m. He has had four starts so far. He finished 4.7 lengths 4th in a Maiden Plate over 1800m at Warracknabeal on 16 April, then didn’t handle the heavy conditions when 30 lengths 13th over 1700m at Warrnambool on 4 May. Has had an eight week let-up and others offer better value.

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 5th May 2024

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Key Comments The best bet is in the first and was explosive on debut. Expecting all to have their chance on this track that usually plays fair. Best Bet What A Cross (Sale Race 1 No. 10) Big finale on debut and looms at likeable odds here. Was smacked in betting then and almost pulled off the plunge when flying to the line. Looks a huge chance here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
