Our Gawler Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Siberian Route (Gawler Race 4 No. 1)
This four-year-old Hinchinbrook gelding trained by Tony McEvoy has only had two starts. He debuted with an arrogant 5.3 length win over 1200m at Strathalbyn on 16 December, then dropped out in the straight for 13th of 15 runners over 1400m at Murray Bridge on 9 January, where he was lame in the near foreleg. Forgive him that run and with blinkers on for the first time expect him to be too classy for the rest.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Issara (Gawler Race 5 No. 3):
This five-year-old mare from the Jon O’connor stable has five wins and six places from 30 starts. She battled gamely for 2.2 lengths 2nd over 1400m at Murray Bridge on 9 January, then led most of the way and hung on when challenged at the 100m for a 0.4 length win over 1506m at Gawler on 23 January. She likes this track and distance and is a good each-way chance.

Best Lay

Gogulf Guru (Gawler Race 3 No. 13):
This three-year-old Shooting To Win filly is the early favourite in this maiden plate over 1500m. She worked home solidly from well back to finish 3.8 lengths 4th over 1000m at Murray Bridge on 1 January, then worked home from well back for 2.2 lengths 5th over 1200m at Murray Bridge on 16 January. The extra distance will help but this is a big field and others look to have better chances.

Best Bet Sky Land (Hobart Race 1 No. 10) This 2YO filly takes on the older horses here but has been very game
