Best Bets

Our Gawler Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Sylvan Crest (Gawler Race 7 No. 4)
This nine-year-old gelding normally runs well at Gawler. He was never in it when 9.9 lengths 10th over 1500m at Morphettville on 31 October, then led throughout to win by 2 lengths over 1350m at Strathalbyn on 18 November. Has a good chance at back-to-back wins.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Monteferrante (Gawler Race 6 No. 9):
This five-year-old Pierro mare has only had one win but has placed seven times in her 16 starts. She kept working home solidly for 1.3 lengths 2nd over 2065m on a soft track at Strathalbyn on 27 May, then steadily improved for 0.4, 3.3 lengths 3rd over 1950m at Morphettville Parks on 30 May. Resuming after 26 weeks she normally runs well first-up and won first-up at Murray Bridge last campaign. A good each-way chance.

Best Lay

Domination (Gawler Race 8 No. 1):
This six-year-old All Too Hard gelding is the early favourite in this BM 58 handicap over 1200m. He weakened in the straight to finish last of 9 over 1000m at Morphettville Parks on 24 October, then got to the front but was overtaken for 0.3, 1.8 lengths 3rd over 1200m at Strathalbyn on 18 November. He gets a 2kg claim here but will still carry more than any other runner. Others look to have better chances.

Horse Racing Tips: SA Wednesday 14th May 2025

Key Comments The track is rated good and the rail is +4 metres in the 1200m chute and +7 metres for the remainder. Best Bet Kersee (Murray Bridge Race 1 No. 10) She ran 3rd at her only start in a harder 1100m race here on 30th April. She did a few things wrong but hit the line nicely and gets Jake Toeroek this time. Top pick. Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way

Horse Racing Tips: QLD Wednesday 14th May 2025

Key Comments The track is rated soft and the rail is +3 metres the entire circuit. As the Bat Out Of Hell over 1100m was abandoned at Gold Coast on Saturday it has been added to this meeting as race 7. Best Bet King Boom (Ipswich Race 4 No. 2) He finished 2nd over 1240m at Ipswich when resuming from a 25 week spell, after leading most of the way. Should be fitter now and should be able to go one better.

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Thursday 15th May 2025

Key Comments Night racing takes place at Pakenham. The best bet looks very hard to topple in the last and put the writing on the wall last time out. Best Bet Fabrice (Pakenham Race 8 No. 6) Good effort last time out in a race no harder than this. Drawn well, knocking on the door and looks very tough to hold out in this highly suitable affair. Analyst: Bryce Parker Each Way

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Thursday 15th May 2025

Key Comments Expecting all runners to have their chance on this track. The best bet was a certainty beat last time out and can atone this time around. Best Bet Cathedral Cove (Hawkesbury Race 4 No. 3) Should have won last start when given a howler ride. Maps a little sticky but should be extremely hard to beat with any luck this time around and finds a race lacking depth. Analyst: Bryce Parker
