Our Naracoorte Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.
Monteferrante (Naracoorte Race 6 No. 5)
This five-year-old Pierro mare trained by Tony McEvoy has had 22 starts for two wins and 10 places and has been racing at metropolitan tracks. She settled well back and battled on steadily for 5.9 lengths 6th over 2400m at Sandown Hillside on 24 February, then came from well back to look the likely winner at the 100m before being caught and finishing 0.5 length 2nd over 1950m at Morphettville Parks on 20 March. Looks very well placed here.

Turf Tapper (Naracoorte Race 4 No. 6):
This seven-year-old Dream Ahead gelding has six wins and 10 places from 43 starts, and came 2nd at his only previous run at this track. He was taken out wide and didn’t come on in the straight when 4.2 lengths 8th over 1200m at Gawler on 2 January before a 12 week spell, then resumed for 2.4 lengths 4th over 1100m at Oakbank on 31 March. Generally goes well second-up and looks a nice each-way chance.

Stryke In Style (Naracoorte Race 5 No. 4):
This five-year-old Stryker gelding is the early favourite in this benchmark 64 handicap over 1430m. He resumed from a 14 week spell for 0.2, 0.9 lengths 3rd over 1200m at Morphettville on 8 March, then was fighting hard but pulled-up lame when 3.1 lengths 6th over 1400m at Oakbank on 28 March. His third-up record is poor and I’m willing to risk him here.

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 5th May 2024
Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Key Comments The best bet is in the first and was explosive on debut. Expecting all to have their chance on this track that usually plays fair. Best Bet What A Cross (Sale Race 1 No. 10) Big finale on debut and looms at likeable odds here. Was smacked in betting then and almost pulled off the plunge when flying to the line. Looks a huge chance here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
