FINALS – WEEK 2 PREVIEW

Melbourne Demons v Brisbane Lions

Friday 9/9/22 @ MCG

Last 5 Encounters |  Melbourne 4  |  Brisbane 1

Melbourne came away from their pressure packed final against the Swans worse for wear.  Oliver, Petracca, Gawn and Spargo just to name a few are nursing injuries although all are expected to be available to face the Lions on Friday night.

The Lions eliminated the Tigers in an epic at the Gabba.  Many described it as Neale vs Richmond and its hard to disagree.  The Brownlow medalist was unbelievable with 35 touches but questions have to be asked as to why he was allowed to run around on his own for the night.  Doubt he is afforded the same luxuries by Melbourne this week – look for Harms to go to him.

Assuming all of the Melbourne stars under injury clouds do play, then it is hard to look past the Demons here.  They belted Brisbane both times they met this year and the Lions have a notoriously poor record at the MCG.

Suggested Bet – Melbourne (Win)

Collingwood Magpies v Fremantle Dockers

Saturday 10/9/22 @ MCG

Last 5 Encounters |  Collingwood 2  |  Fremantle 3

Collingwood and Fremantle meet at the MCG on Saturday afternoon in what could potentially be a rain affected game.

I thought the Magpies were amazing against Geelong last week, unfortunately for them one side had to lose and it was them.  They lost no admirers and well and truly exceeded my expectations.

Fremantle came from eight goals behind to beat the Bulldogs in the West.  Young guns Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw lead the way for the Dockers in one of the great finals come backs.

If Collingwood can get anywhere close to a repeat of last weeks performance then they win this game.  Throw in home ground advantage and the chance of rain – which again favours them – and I think they get this job done.

Suggested Bet – Collingwood (Win)
