Western Bulldogs v Greater Western Sydney Giants

Saturday 13/8/22 @ MCG

Last 5 Encounters |  Western Bulldogs 4  |  GWS 1

A battle of two of the competitions best midfields.  Greater Western Sydney responded from a poor run of form to get over the top of the Bombers in Sydney last week, while the Western Bulldogs gave Fremantle an early lead and simply could not peg it back.  The Dogs have plenty to play for and I think they bounce back strongly here at the Dome against a Giants side with out Toby Greene.

Suggested Bet – 1.5 Units Western Bulldogs Line (-32.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Fremantle Dockers v West Coast Eagles

Saturday 13/8/22 @ Perth Stadium

Last 5 Encounters |  Fremantle 2  |  West Coast 3

West Coast and Fremantle face off in the Western Australia Derby at Optus on Saturday night. Fremantle should win this pretty comfortably although rarely kick huge scores and with rain forecast and no Josh Kennedy for the Eagles it is hard to see them kicking a big score either.  Under total points looks the play in this game.

Suggested Bet – 1.5 Units Total Points UNDER (156.5) @ $1.88 (Sportsbet)

Sydney Swans v Collingwood Magpies

Sunday 14/8/22 @ SCG

Last 5 Encounters |  Collingwood 3  |  Sydney 2

Two of the three in form teams of the comp do battle in what promises to be another absolute ripper on Sunday afternoon at the SCG.  The Swans have won their last five while the Pies have won their last eleven!  There is no doubt Sydney deserve to be favourite but we learnt our lesson tipping against the Pies last week and given how much they embrace a road trip I think the line here looks too big.  Happy to have something on them with the start.

Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Collingwood Line (+17.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Essendon Bombers v Port Adelaide Power

Sunday 14/8/22 @ Docklands

Last 5 Encounters |  Essendon 1  |  Port Adelaide 4

When these two sides met earlier in the year Port were certainly the team in better form yet Essendon put up a really good fight at the Adelaide Oval.  Flip the script here.  Port have lost five of their last six and are now out of the finals race.  The Bombers – whilst disappointing against the Giants last week – have won four of their last six and get the home ground advantage here.  A repeat of their home performances against Sydney and Gold Coast in recent times should see them get over the top of Port Adelaide.

Suggested Bet – 2 Units Essendon Line (-2.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Weekly Multi – 2 Units @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

  • Western Bulldogs (Win)
  • Fremantle (Win)
  • Adelaide (Win)
  • Melbourne (Win)

Futures Bet – Western Bulldogs To Make The Top 8

Finals are fast approaching and there are many scenarios that could see teams make or miss the top eight over the final two weeks of the season.  The scenario I am prepared to gamble on is the Western Bulldogs to make the top 8.  They need to win both games.  They should win this week pretty comfortably for the reasons outlined above.  Hawthorn in Tassie the following week will be more challenging but they are a clear favourite in that game in early betting.  They require Carlton to lose both games which is looking more and more likely with no Cripps as well as host of other injuries.  The only other scenario which would see them miss is if St Kilda is to win both games which too is unlikely given they face two top four sides all be it at home.

Suggested Bet – 1.25 Units Western Bulldogs To Make The Top 8 @ $3.30 (TAB)
