Geelong Cats v Melbourne Demons

Thursday 7/7/22 @ Geelong

Last 5 Encounters |  Geelong 2  |  Melbourne 3

Verdict

Thursday night footy is a genuine block buster with one and two in the premiership betting facing off at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.

Geelong haven’t lost since Round 9 and are coming off a 20 goal win against bottom placed side North Melbourne.

This week they face the team at the other end of the ladder – Melbourne – who have steadied the ship in recent weeks after a lean patch in the lead up to their bye.

The Demons get a couple of big ins for this, their captain Max Gawn & young gun Luke Jackson and if recent history is anything to go by Melbourne have the upper hand.  They stormed home to win by 4 points with a 38 to 2 point last quarter at this venue in round 23 last year before blowing the Cats away in a prelim final by 82 points!

With this in mind and Tom Stewart still on the sidelines for Geelong I have to be with Melbourne here.

Suggested Bet – 1.5 Units Melbourne (Win) @ $1.88 (Top Sport)

Gold Coast Suns v Richmond Tigers

Saturday 9/7/22 @ Gold Coast

Last 5 Encounters |  Gold Coast 1  |  Richmond 4

Verdict

Richmond have won seven of their last nine games and continue to push towards a top four spot on the ladder.

Gold Coast have had an agonising fortnight losing narrowly to Port Adelaide and Collingwood in high quality games of footy.  They’d won five of their last six prior.

This is do or die for the Suns in terms of keeping their finals chances alive and I think they are playing good enough footy to get the better of Richmond who are missing a couple of key players.

Suggested Bet – 1.5 Units Gold Coast Suns (Win) @ $1.92 (Sportsbet)

  • Brisbane (Win)
  • Carlton (Win)
  • Luke McDonald To Have 20 or more Disposals

Brisbane v Essendon (Brisbane Win) – despite a mini resurgence from Essendon over the past few weeks Brisbane are a beast at home and should be far too good for the Bombers.

West Coast v Carlton (Carlton Win) – West Coast have also shown a mini resurgence but lose Yeo for this and are still with out McGovern.  On the other hand Carlton get Weitering and Owies back in and are unlikely to let his one slip.

Collingwood v North Melbourne (Luke McDonald To Have 20 or more Disposals) – McDonald takes all the kick ins when Aaron Hall doesn’t play and should cover 20 disposals this week.
