Best bet – Race 7 #2 Far Too Easy

Love this galloper – he’s still untapped and largely underrated. He should be winning again – the only ‘if’ is can he handle Eagle Farm? It’s a track which has brought many good horses unstuck, but his stride tells me he will handle the track as he appears to be a horse who relishes striding out on firm ground. He’s won four-from-five and the offers to buy him for Hong Kong have now reached seven figures. Barrier four is perfect and I expect him to be winning again.

Next best – Race 8 #9 Profit

A tricky horse to catch but I like him in this race. His two trials have been very solid and he has a good record at Eagle Farm. He also goes well fresh and I like the 1400m first-up. Barrier eight appears a touch awkward on paper, but I think Steph Thornton can find the right spot for him to pounce at the top of the straight and be too strong late.

Best each-way – Race 2 #7 Zoukina

This girl has more talent than her record suggests and I like that she’s first-up at Eagle Farm. She comes off a nice trial and has ran well at this track previously. The firm deck is a positive for her (as it always is at Eagle Farm) and from gate four she gets a good run with Jimmy Byrne aboard, who obviously has some time for her given he’s stuck with her for much of her career.
