Our Strathalbyn Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

West Cliff (Strathalbyn Race 1 No. 3)
This five-year-old Canford Cliffs gelding trained by Jamie Opperman at Mount Gambier has two places from five starts. At the end of last campaign he was contacted at the start and finished 7.5 lengths 7th over 1200m at Morphettville on 26 December. Resuming after 45 weeks he chased strongly making good ground in the final 175m for 0.9 length 2nd over 1100m at Penola on 7 November. Should be hard to beat.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Harbouring (Strathalbyn Race 8 No. 5):
This six-year-old Harbour Watch gelding trained by Grant Young at Murray Bridge has five wins and nine places from 43 starts. He was never in it when 10.5 lengths 11th over 1200m at Morphettville on 30 October, then jumped awkwardly and worked home solidly from well back in the field for 2.9 lengths 4th over 1200m at Murray Bridge on 10 November. The extra distance suits and he is a nice each-way chance.

Rapid Raiser (Strathalbyn Race 7 No. 2):
This six-year-old Rebel Raider gelding is the early favourite in this BM 56 handicap over 1600m. He battled away for 4.4 lengths 9th over 1600m at Morphettville on 9 October, then kept working to the line for 1.7 lengths 3rd over 1600m at Murray Bridge on 10 November. He has more weight here and hasn’t won in five previous races at this track. Happy to risk.
