Our Penola Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Thrill Kill  (Penola Race 6 No. 5)
This four-year-old Stryker gelding trained by Peter Hardacre at Mt Gambier has had six starts for two wins and four places. He chased solidly for 2 lengths 2nd over 1400m at Morphettville Parks on 5 June, then finished 7.2 lengths 7th over 1600m at Murray Bridge on 19 June. Returns to a shorter trip from an 11 weeklet-up and won at Warracknabeal when last first-up. Looks well placed here.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Keysor (Penola Race 7 No. 5):
This seven-year-old All Too Hard gelding has six wins and 13 places from 45 starts. He won two races in a row at Bordertown then Gawler, then worked home nicely from a long way back for 3.7 lengths 7th over 1514m at Morphettville on 14 August, then came from 11th to finish 4.1 lengths 3rd over 1500m at Gawler on 1 September. Has a 3kg claim here and looks a good each-way bet.

Best Lay

Stasia (Penola Race 2 No. 8):
This four-year-old Deep Field mare is the early favourite in this 3YO and upwards maiden plate over 1100m. She was bumped heavily and lost her position at the 250m to finish 7 lengths 5th over 1050m at Morphettville on 31 July, then started favourite but faded to finish 12.7 lengths 8th over 1000m at Naracoorte on 22 August. The blinkers go back on, but other runners offer better value.
