Our Hawkesbury Horse Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Exoboom (Hawkesbury Race 5 No. 9)
This three-year-old gelding trained by Peter and Paul Snowden has two wins and three places from five starts. She won a maiden plate by 6.84 lengths on a heavy track over 1350m at Wyong on 2 January, then kicked at the 350m and raced away for a 5.3 length win over 1500m at Kembla Grange on 16 January. She has had a 12 week let-up but placed in a recent Randwick trial and should be able to continue on her winning way.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

I Say Hello (Hawkesbury Race 6 No. 5):
This three-year-old filly trained by Kris Lees has two wins and a place from her three starts. She resumed after 50 weeks for a close 2nd place over 1200m at Newcastle on 5 March, then she was the widest straightening and ran on strongly to arrive on the line for a 0.16 length win over 1200m at Newcastle on 30 March. She has drawn very wide but is still a very good each-way bet.

Best Lay

Maui Girl (Hawkesbury Race 7 No. 6):
This five-year-old Lope De Vega mare is the early favourite in this benchmark 78 handicap over 1500m. She couldn’t go with the winner but battled on for 3 lengths 2nd over 1400m at Rosehill on 20 February, then was held up at the 200m and looked unlucky when 1.9 lengths 4th over 1400m at Newcastle on 5 March. This is her first run for trainer Annabel Neasham but she hasn’t won in eight starts this campaign and I don’t think that will change here.

Best Bet Typhoon Taavi (Eagle Farm Race 3 No. 3) This mare from the Tony Gollan stable has won her last 2 races by big margins. She has heaps of natural speed and gets a 3kg claim for Tahlia Fenton who has had success on her before. Leading hope. Check

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 3rd May 2024

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet is off the back of a strong second placing and looks hard to hold out launching from the good draw. Best Bet Red Red Wine (Echuca Race 8 No. 5) He has been hard to catch lately but was keen on him earlier this prep when he was smashed in the market and ran on well in a higher grade than this. Gets his chance in this field and should relish the drop in
