Sydney Thunder v Perth Scorchers @ Manuka Oval

The Perth Scorchers looked a huge chance of beating the title favourites, the Melbourne Stars, before rain ended proceedings on Wednesday night.

The Scorchers batted first and it was imports Joe Clark and Colin Munro who did the damage at the top of the order. Then a nice cameo from Ashton Turner took the Scorchers to a strong total of 158 off 17 overs.

In reply, the Stars were 1/10 when the match was abandoned.

I mentioned last week that the Scorchers bowling matched up well against the Stars batting, and I think the same applies here. The Thunder are heavily reliant on their top order batting and Perth have some quality bowlers capable of making early in roads.

The Scorchers themselves have a rock solid batting order and if they can play at somewhere near their best then they will be too classy for the Thunder.

Brisbane Heat v Adelaide Strikers @ The Gabba

The Brisbane Heat face the Adelaide Strikers in the last game before Christmas.

It has been a poor start for Brisbane having lost both games. They were comprehensively beaten by the Melbourne Stars in game one but it is game two which I see as more of a concern.

Chris Lynn who they are so reliant on not only made runs but they had Sydney three wickets down in the first four overs which historically means you should almost certainly be winning the game, yet they failed to do so.

Adelaide would be disappointed with their performance on Sunday night and keen to bounce back.

After starting well with the ball they conceded multiple 15+ run overs towards the backend which allowed the Sixers to reach a healthy total of 177. In reply the Strikers made a hot start with the bat reaching the 50 run mark with out loss in only the fifth over. However from that point on they lost regular wickets and fell 38 runs short of the Sixers total.

In my opinion Adelaide are clearly the superior side, especially with the bat. Therefore all things being equal they should be able to get over the top of the Heat in this and take some momentum into the Christmas break.
