Manly Sea Eagles v Sydney Roosters

Friday 17/9/21

It must be said the Roosters were extremely lucky to advance through week one of finals, after the Titans screwed up a golden opportunity. Having said that, it must not be forgotten that the Roosters once again simply just got the job one. All season they’ve overcome adversity, with endless injuries and other setbacks. Can they do it one more time against the Sea Eagles? Well, much of it rests on how Manly star Tom Trbojevic performs. He’s simply a match-winner. Manly were dominated early and always on the back foot in last week’s loss to the Storm, but obviously this is a much easier assignment against a Roosters side now also without Sam Verrills through suspension. The Roosters however have won four of their past five games against the Sea Eagles. Can it continue? It’s no doubt a tough ask, but they take on a side which is very dependent on one player, and the Roosters just keep finding ways to win. At the price, must have something on the Roosters.

Suggested bet: 2.5u Roosters win at $4

Penrith Panthers v Parramatta Eels

Saturday 18/9/21

Penrith will be looking to string four straight wins over Parramatta when these two sides meet on Saturday night in Mackay. The Panthers were shocked by a tough Rabbitohs side last week and will have to hit back or face a surprising early exit from the finals race. They should have way too much firepower for an Eels side which had to toil past the Knights last week. They key for both sides, obviously, is defence. Last week’s 10 points scored by Penrith was their lowest for the season. In the past three clashes between these sides the Eels have scored only 2, 6 and 12 points. The Eels have also not won back-to-back finals games since 2009. The Panthers should also be looking to make a statement after their premiership credentials lost some gloss in the loss to the Rabbitohs.

Suggested bet: 3u Penrith -12.5 at $1.90
