Review of last weeks golf tips

Kaboom, Backawinners, we tipped MinWoo Lee at $320 to win the Scottish Open and Scott Brown ran 4th at the US tour event. A good result.

The Open Championship

This week the main focus is on the Open Championship to be held at the venerable old Royal St George’s in Kent. The Laidlaw Purves Design has tested many of the greats, Harry Vardon, Walter Hagen, Henry Cotton, Bobby Locke and Sandy Lyle and Greg Norman all won here. However it does throw up the odd result with Ben Curtis winning his only tour event and Thomas Bjorne slaughtering a three shot lead in one bunker. The Links plays 7204 yards (6587m) par 70 and the wind as always at seaside links will determine the difficulty factor.

LGPA Tour

The LPGA Tour to Michigan for the Dow Great Lakes Bay Championship at the Midland Country Club in Midland, Mi.

The course was redesigned by Larry Packard in 1970 and upgraded in 1990 by Jerry Matthews. For the ladies it will vary between 6100-6400 yards and has a slope of 130 and a coure rating of 70.8. The format is unusual in the 72 teams of two ladies play at foursomes and fourballs to decide the event.

Sadly, for women’s golf, there is no betting on this event?

Barbasol Championship

The PGA Tour event is the Barbasol Championship. To be held at the Keene Trace Golf Club, an Arthur Hills Design, the Championship course is 7117 yards par 72 with a slope rating of 137 and a course rating of 73.8
