Safeway Open

The Safeway Open opens the new PGA Tour year? To be held at Silverado resort north course in Napa Northern California.

The course stretches out to 7228 yards par 72. The course features Bermuda greens and fairways and was designed originally by Ben Harman in 1955 and remodelled by Robert Trent Jones in 1967.

The last two years the winning score has been -14 and -15 suggesting the course provides a stern test. Many of the top players will not play this week, instead taking a rest for the US Open the following week.

Portugal Masters

The Portugal Masters  has been held at the course since 2007 and continuous improvements have been made by the course owners in conjunction with the European tour, the Dom Pedro Victoria course is rated one of the best conditioned in Europe. Designed by Arnold Palmer, the 7273 yard course has a par of 72. The first ever sub 60 score on the Euro tour was shot here.

The tournament course at Mission Hills Desmond Muirhead designed was opened in 1971. The entertainer Dina Shore promotes and sponsored the early events for women and the course is now called the Dinah Shore Tournament Course. That event became a major in 1983 one of five women’s majors the 6192 yards par 72 has a slope rating for the ladies of 76.1 /135.
