The Russell Balding Stakes Race History
The race was introduced in 2019 and was originally named after the winner of the previous years The Everest. This means it has had several names
2019 – Redzel Stakes
2020– Yes Yes Yes Stakes
2021– Classique Legend Stakes
2022– Nature Strip Stakes
2023 – Giga Kick Stakes
In 2024 and going forward it is called the Russell Balding Stakes after former NSW Racing chairman Russell Balding, who had to step down in 2023.
The prizemoney of $3,000,000 make it a very attractive race and it is held 3 weeks after The Everest.
It is run on the same day as The Golden Eagle, which is the same date as Victoria Derby day in Melbourne.
