WA Guineas 2020 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Nineteen runners, including three emergencies have accepted for the 2020 WA Guineas. 18. Blow Me Out is an early scratching. Gemma’s Son is one of the early favourites, he tackled the older horses at his most recent start and finished off well to run fourth. Dom To Shoot was a victim of a slow tempo in the Fairetha Stakes. He found the line well suggesting the step up to 1600m will suit. William Pike is returning from a stint in Melbourne, he will need to be on his game to negotiate a wide gate for Western Empire. Brave Angel has finished in the placings at all three starts this preparation and there has been some money for her in early markets.
Magical Dream is the second of the Williams/Peters runners and is on the quick back up from the Champion Fillies last week. Watch Me Dance is one of three last start winners in the race. In form Chris Parnham takes the reigns on Solaia who has finished fourth at her last two starts. First Law is third up and well drawn in barrier seven. Kallaroo sprinted quickly through a gap last start to claim first place in Fairetha Stakes. The remaining runners are $20-1 or longer.
WA Guineas Runner by Runner
1. Gemma’s Son
Found a midfield position last start and was solid to the line. That was against the older horses. He is going to need a good ride from barrier 13 but his form reads well.
2. Dom To Shoot
Started a clear favourite in the Fairetha and was far from suited back and wide. Can find a better position with some cover here from barrier nine. He is one of the major chances.
3. Em Tee Aye
Got going late last start to finish third. On a quick back up here and already a winner of two races this preparation.
4. Kallaroo
Was able to take advantage of a good Brad Parnham ride from an inside draw to win last start. Different scenario here drawing wide in 14 and needs to prove himself at 1600m.
5. Reign Of Fire
Has struggled to recapture the winning form of last preparation this time in. Prefer others at this stage.
6. All Day Session
This son of Sessions lead and won here last start. This is a step up but can improve again third up.
7. Phanta
The Warwick’s team up with Phanta. He has had just two starts but has shown good ability and you would think has a stack of improvement to come. Drawn well in barrier eight.
8. Panzdown
Panzdown found a good spot and battled on okay last start. Needs to improve quite a few lengths to be factored in here.
9. First Law
First Law stuck on well last start after being forced to race outside the lead. Third up with the blinkers on gives him every chance to run well.
10. Watch Me Dance
Another to have finished close up behind Kallaroo at his last start. Blinkers go on here. One of the chances in an open race.
11. Watch Me Dance
The second of the Steve Wolf trained runners. She is backing up after winning the Champion Fillies last week and has been very consistent having missed the placings just once in her ten starts. May need luck from barrier one.
12. Magical Dream
The near side blinker goes on here. She rattled home to be beaten less than two lengths in the Champion Fillies. From barrier 18 she will likely be back close to last again.
13. Solaia
Liked her win three starts back. Has been there abouts in two subsequent runs. Each Way chance.
14. Brave Angel
This lightly raced filly has drawn well in barrier six. Thought she was the run of the race in the Champion Fillies and if she can reproduce that run will be right in this!
15. Eliminate
Has started big odds at both runs this preperation. She hasn’t shown enough to be recommending here.
16. Smashing
Looks ready to tackle the 1600m for the first time. This is a step up in grade though and she has drawn very wide.
17. Western Empire
William Pike’s ride for this years race. She is having just her third start and ran out of her skin to finish second behind Kallaroo off a wide run last start. These connections know how to win a big race!
18. Blow Me Out – SCRATCHED
19. Fletcher Road
Rank outsider in the race. This is too hard.
