Track: Soft 6 Weather: Showers

Following the early scratchings of Robusto, Danny’s St Darci and Exotique Miss, a field of 12 runners remain for the 2024 Tattersalls Members Cup with 11 geldings and one mare. There is one 4YO, four 5YOs, four 6YOs, one 7YO and two 8YOs. Three runners had their last start in the Listed Toowoomba Weetwood Handicap over 1200m on 28th September (won by Hidden Wealth), while the rest all came through different races. Two runners are sired by Bel Esprit.

The betting is fairly open and the early favourite is Yellow Brick who was runner-up in the Weetwood last start and has outstanding form at this track. Second favourite is Battlefield who won over 1200m at Toowoomba last start and has won 4 of his 6 starts this preparation. Third favourite is Grebeni who resumes from an 18 week spell and can run well fresh. Naval Trader won over 1350m at Doomben last start and has only missed the trifecta once in 13 starts, while Bandersnatch has been racing at Group level in Sydney and Melbourne.The rest of the runners are currently $12 or more.

Was runner-up in the Listed Weetwood Handicap last start and has outstanding form at this track with 3 wins and 2 seconds from 5 starts. Handles rain-affected going and is one of the main chances

2. Bandersnatch (4)

Has been racing at Group level in Sydney and Melbourne so will find this easier. This is his best distance and can get into the money.

3. Ucalledit (7)

Won his only previous start at this track and comes off 4 lengths 7th in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap. Place chance.

4. Grebeni (8)

Resumes from an 18 week spell and can run well fresh.

5. Robusto (15)

Hasn’t raced since 31st August but won a recent trial at Doomben. Not the worst.

7. Burning Bell (6)

The only mare in the field this year and one of 2 runners sired by Bel Esprit (the other is Ned’s Gully). Has a good strike rate and it would be no surprise to see her run well.

8. Danny’s St Darci (14)

9. Winston Smurfhill (10)

Last-start winner at the Gold Coast and has 2 wins and 2 places from 4 starts this campaign. Don’t dismiss.

10. Ned’s Gully (2)

Ran 5th in the Weetwood after being held-up near the 400m. Could place.

11. The Drover (12)

Ran 4th in the Weetwood and generally improves second-up. Rough place chance.

12. Exotique Miss (13)

Won over 1200m at Toowoomba last start and has won 4 of his 6 starts this preparation. It’s his first black type race but he looks as if he can be in the finish.

14. Cranky Harry (9)

Has won 5 of his 16 starts and goes well on soft ground. Could surprise.

15. Naval Trader (5)

Won over 1350m at Doomben last start and has only missed the trifecta once in 13 starts. Serious player.
