Track: Likely Good – Soft Weather: Mostly Sunny

Eleven runners have accepted for the $200,000 Group 3 Belmont Guineas and there have been no early scratchings. There are no dual-trained acceptors, therefore each trainer has just one entry each.

God Has Chosen has opened up the $1.90 favourite in the race following her run in the Hyperion Stakes. She should have won the race with a clear running but unfortunately, they ran into trouble when going back to the inside and finished a narrow second. Kaptain Kaos was the runner that beat her last start and he has opened up the second favourite for the race. Both runners are yet to tackle 2000m.

Notorious One rounds out the top three in the betting and he is coming off a sixth placing in the same race. He gets a positive jockey change with Brad Parnham taking over and a better gate to last time.

1. Rostropovich (4)

Ran well in the Hyperion Stakes despite being ride throughout. 2000m is right up his alley and I expect him to run well.

2. Platoon (6)

He was very disappointing in the Hyperion Stakes finishing a distant tenth though the jockey is optimistic that an improved run is imminent once he gets to 2000m. Place chance.

3. Marocchino (3)

Likely leader of the race. He will get his chance if he can control the race as he wasn’t far away in the Hyperion Stakes when setting a fast pace.

4. Tellem We’re Comin (11)

Can’t have on form.

5. Black Shadow (1)

Solid run first-up in the Hyperion Stakes. 2000m suits better but I still think he wants further.

6. Kaptain Kaos (8)

Winner of the Hyperion Stakes. He looks to get a tougher run on paper than last time out and is untested at 2000m.

7. God Has Chosen (7)

Should have won the Hyperion Stakes. She looks like she will eat up 2000m and will likely drop back once again from the draw. She is the one to beat.

8. Notorious One (2)

Gets a positive jockey change from his sixth in the Hyperion Stakes. Gets some gear changes to go along with it. Place chance.

9. Prince Turbo (5)

In tremendous form but this is too hard.

10. Divine Shadow (9)

Can’t have on recent form.

11. Paddy’s Shadow (10)

Can’t have on recent form.
