1. Jungle Edge
This ten-year-old is still racing competitively and is arguably the best wet-tracker in Victoria. Last start he finished 7th in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes, but the start before he kicked away for a strong win in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes when the track was downgraded to heavy. His chances grow as more rain falls.
Last start he won the Bletchingly Stakes, the start before he was 2nd in the Sir John Monash Stakes, and the start before that he won the Winter Dash at Randwick. He should be in the finish and will probably win.
3. Begood Toya Mother
He won this race last year which was his sixth consecutive win. His run came to an end the next start when he ran a nice 6th in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes then he returned to the winners stall in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes. He resumes from a spell here and it would not surprise to see him in the finish.
Three start ago he won over 1600m at Flemington, and has finished midfield at his two starts since. He is not the worst and could run a place.
Eight of his 13 starts have been over 1400m, so that is clearly his best distance rather than 1200m. He likes Csulfield and can go well fresh and since he has been trialling well in Tasmania he could surprise first-up
6. Age Of Chivalry
He resumes here after a spell of 24 weeks and has won first-up before. Last campaign he raced well at Group 1 level with a 2nd in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and a 3rd in the Toorak Handicap. He should be competitive and I expect to see him fighting out the finish.
7. Miami Bound – SCRATCHED
8. Bumper Blast
With 4 wins from 7 starts he has a great strike rate. He resumed after 27 weeks with a 0.75 length win over 1000m at Flemington on 18 July. He has won second-up before and he has won on soft going before, so is definitely a contender.
9. She Shao Fly
Following the scratching of Miami Bound she is the only mare in the race. She won a fillies and mares race at Sandown Park in early July then worked home nicely for 5th in the Bletchingly Stakes. She has not won at Caulfield before but is not the worst.
