Track: Soft 5 Weather: Fine

Following the early scratching of Kairos Louie there is a full field of 18 runners plus 4 emergencies  for the 2024 Ladbrokes Queensland Derby with 20 geldings and 2 fillies. Eight runners had their last start in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate over 2000m at Doomben on 18th May (won by Tannhauser), five in a $75,000 3YO Handicap over 2180m at Ipswich on 22nd May (won by First Innings),  two in a $150,000 3YO Handicap over 2000m at Flemington on 18th May (won by Navy King) and two in a BM72 over 2130m at Warwick Farm on 22nd May (won by Bullets High) while the other 4 came via different races. Three are sired by Saxon Warrior and two each by Savabeel and Dundeel. Seven are trained by Chris Waller and two each by Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman and Andrew Forsman.

The early favourite is filly Autumn Angel who won the Group 1 ATC Oaks over 2400m at Randwick on 13th April before 2nd in the Rough Habit. Second favourite is Tannhauser who won the Rough Habit. Third favourite is Warmonger who comes off 2nd in the Group 1 South Australian Derby over 2500m at Morphettville on 4th May. Saban ran 2nd over 2000m at Flemington last start. Navy King comes off a win in that race, while First Innings was a good winner over 2180m at Ipswich. The other runners are currently $23 or longer.

Won the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate over 2000m at Doomben on 18th May and looks as if he will handle the 2400m. One of the main chances.

2. Warmonger (23)

Comes off 2nd in the Group 1 South Australian Derby over 2500m at Morphettville on 4th May.Came from a clear last with a huge run and a repeat of that run would see him in the finish.

Ran 6th in a $75,000 3YO Handicap over 2180m at Ipswich on 22nd May (won by First Innings)
