Oxlade Stakes – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Fine

4 chances between the $4-6 mark in this field so the betting is wide-open. Bank Maur is the favourite and was very tough on debut. Drawn out wide but wouldn’t need to improve much off its effort to take this out. Robusto brings in the right formlines and maps to get the dream run in transit for Hugh Bowman. Calgary Stampede should improve again on a drier surface while Metallicity is still trying to put it all together but does have the talent to take this out.

1. Calgary Stampede (1)

Has been costly to follow of late but has also been desperate for a dry track and will get that here. Barrier 1 can be put to use and it has to be respected in this field off old form. On trust, keep safe.

2. Thelwell (3)

Gets the dream run in transit and while last run was poor, the first up effort was excellent. Has to improve off last start but can certainly figure in the finish.

3. Allude (14)

Going along okay but barrier 14 does make things very tricky. Keep an eye on the market.

4. Ringmaster (7)

Always had time for Ringmaster and this race doesn’t look out of his reach. Needs luck from the draw but put the writing on the wall last run & should be hard to hold out.

5. Metallicity (5)

Looking for a dry track and gets that here. Has an abundance of talent but is still learning the craft. If it puts it together it could blow these away and off raw ability is hard to beat in this field.

6. Bank Maur (13)

Superb debut run. Won’t get any favours from the draw but is racing in excellent heart and can get another win here in what is a suitable race and the net step for it.

7. Wowit’s Willywonka (4)

Can’t have.

8. Johnny Rocker (11)

This is a lot harder, can’t have.

9. Shaqulia (6)

Should be improver on top of the ground. Keep an eye on the market.

10. Robusto (2)

Brings in the right form for this and has a very strong case to be winning. Maps for a beautiful run in transit from barrier 2 and just has to hold its form to be going mighty close.

11. Four Mile Lane (12)

Can’t have.

12. Whistling Spirit (15)

This looks too tough.

13. Minks Star (16)

Likeable at odds and going well enough to take this out. Minks Star will need plenty of luck from the draw but it has talent and is capable of winning this.

14. Floral Oasis (9)

Sound run last start. Keep safe and an eye on the market.

15. Sebring Girl (8)

Form reads quite well for this, just needs some luck from the gate but the form around Stroll and its last start win is good enough to go close here.

16. Kamitori (10)

Respecting the placement and going along okay. Keep an eye on the market.
