Ortensia Stakes 2024 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Parisal beat Eagle Nest when resuming which is good form for this. Maps for a lovely run and looks very hard to beat. Hard to knock Opal Ridge who is drawn wide but is 2/2 at this track and flies fresh. Ticks plenty of boxes and presents good value. Insurrection has plenty of speed and has an outstanding record with Lloyd aboard. Iowna Merc has been well backed in early markets and goes in the mix.

Hard to knock. Comes up with a kind draw, is 5/6 with Lloyd aboard and proven at this level. Likes racing over the trip but does see the track for the first time like some of these.

3. Spacewalk (6)
Overdid it fresh and just has to settle better in this to give this race a shake. Capable on its day but does tend to do things wrong at times.
5. Hard To Say (4)
Good last start win beating Manhood. Much harder here but comes up with a kind draw. Top 4 chance.
6. Opal Ridge (14)
Flies fresh, 2/2 here and is the class of the race. So much to like a bout its win last year on this day in the Luskin Star Stakes. Big hope and ticks all the boxes.
7. Bacchanalia (12)
Can’t have.
9. Le Melody (10)
Prefer others.
10. With Your Blessing (1)
This looks too tough.
11. Quick Tempo (8)
Can’t have.
12. Xtravagant Star (2)
Needs to lift off the back of last start. Good enough to take this out and comes up with a kind draw. Can win.

Prefer others.

Happy to look past now at the price. Brilliant trial but no one missed it and barrier 17 is a task. Can win but feel others bring slightly better form to this.
