The Fairetha Stakes is a Listed race held at Ascot over 1400 metres. It is for three-year-old colts and geldings and is run under set weights and penalties conditions. The total prize money this year is $125,000.

Fairetha Stakes 2024 Preview

Track: Good 4 Weather: Fine

There are 13 runners for the 2024 Seacorp Fairetha Stakes, with 10 geldings and 3 colts. Six runners had their last start in the Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot on 26th October (won by West Star), and two in the Bisley Workwear Plate over 1400m at Ascot on 19th October (won by Elite Missile), while the rest came via different races. Three runners are sired by Playing God. Trainers Neville Parnham, Simon A Miller and Luke Fernie each have 2 runners.

The early favourite is September Born who resumed for 0.2 length 2nd in the Belgravia Stakes at his 2nd start after debuting with a 2 length win at Belmont. Second favourite is Olympic Park who has won both his starts – at Bunbury then Ascot. Third favourite is The Merryman who has a win and a place from his 2 starts. Ripper Farooq was a last-start winner of a maiden at Northam, while Horcrux ran 1.5 lengths 4th in the Belgravia. The other runners are currently $20 or longer.

1. Big Shots (1)

One of 2 runners for Luke Fernie (the other is Ripper Farooq). Resumed after 23 weeks for 9th in the Belgravia. Perfectly drawn but this looks too hard.

2. Sir Dreamalot (9)

Finished 2 lengths 5th in the Belgravia . Has won 2 of his 9 starts and both were at 1000m. Not sure how he’ll handle the 1400m.

3. Street Band (10)

Came from last to finish 7th in the Belgravia. The extra distance will suit and he is a rough place chance.

4. True Apostle (2)

One of 3 runners sired by Playing God (the others are September Born and Across Generations). Finished 7th behind Elite Missile last start and won at Belmont the start before. Could surprise.

5. September Born (13)

Resumed for 0.2 length 2nd in the Belgravia Stakes at his 2nd start after debuting with a 2 length win at Belmont. Has drawn the outside barrier but looks the best horses in the field.

6. Horcrux (3)

Ran 1.5 lengths 4th in the Belgravia where he led most of the way. One of the chances.

7. Olympic Park (8)

He has won both his starts – at Bunbury then Ascot and they have both been over this distance. Should fight out the finish..

8. Pond Master (4)

Winner of his last 2 starts at Northam then Belmont. This is much harder but don’t write him off.

9. Ripper Farooq (11)

Last-start winner of a maiden at Northam. Not the worst.

10. Exceed The Planet (6)

Wound-up steadily for 3rd in the Belgravia. Place chance.

11. The Merryman (5)

Has a win and a place from his 2 starts. He was held-up and inconvenienced before driving home late for 3rd last start and looked to have more to offer.
