BRC Sires Produce Stakes 2024 Preview
Track: Soft 5 Weather: Fine
There is a capacity field of 18 plus 5 emergencies for the 2024 Aquis Stallions Sires’ Produce Stakes with 15 colts, 4 geldings and 4 fillies. Six runners had their last start in the Group 2 Champagne Classic over 1200m at Doomben on 18th May (won by Bittercreek), six in the Group 3 Ken Russell over 1200m at Sunshine Coast on 11th May (won by Althoff), three in a 2YO Handicap over 1200m at Newcastle on 11th May (won by Pisces), two in a 2YO Handicap over 1400m at Sunshine Coast on 19th May (won by Brutal Bowler) and two in a 2YO Handicap over 1400m at Kensington on 15th May (won by Megastar Heart), while the rest came via different races. Three runners are sired by Brutal and 2 each by Too Darn Hot, Harry Angel and Star witness. Stuart Kendrick has 2 runners.
The betting is very open with some of the better runners drawing very wide. The early favourite is Broadsiding following back-to-back wins in Sydney. Second favourite is El Morzillo who was 2nd in the Group 2 Champagne Classic last outing. Third favourite is Brutal Bowler who won well at Sunshine Coast. Bittercreek won the Champagne Classic at his second start, while Angel Capital has looked good in both his starts. All other runners are currently $14 or longer.
