Track: Good-Soft Weather: Fine

Eleven runners have accepted for what looks set to be one of the strongest editions of the Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) in recent memory.  Four of these are last start winners.  Two are resuming from a spell and two are debutants.  General Beau is the early favourite with the bookies.  He returned to the races in fine style winning the Blue Diamond Preview (C&G) ten days ago.  Jigsaw is the second favourite – he ran good time in his debut win at Geelong on January 7 and that form has since been franked with the second place getting Artorious winning easily at Sandown at his next start.

On the next line of betting is the Godolphin colt Anamoe who resumes off an outstanding Sandown win.  Extreme Choice sat wide with out cover first up but was game in running second to General Beau.  Construct is first up for team Snowden and has trialed well leading into this.  Yulong Turbo is a huge horse and looks to have plenty of ability.  The remaining runners are longer than $20-1.

1. General Beau

Two wins and a second from three starts.  Strong return in the Blue Diamond Preview.  He missed the start a length but showed good tactical speed to drive up behind the leaders and then went onto win by .75 of a length.  He will take good improvement from that and is one of the major players again here.

2. Anamoe

Resumes.  Ultra impressive last time out when chasing down the talented Forbes at Sandown.  He has looked good winning a recent Flemington jump out and is one of the key chances here.

3. Extreme Warrior

Won a Sandown jump out in good style/time and then ran second to General Beau first up.  That was a good effort as he was wide with out cover on a fast tempo.  He draws to get a much softer run on the fence here and if the breaks come can be in the finish.

4. Construct

Construct finished second in the Breeders Plate at Randwick on October 3.  He has had two trials in Sydney to get ready for this, closing off well in both.  Respect this stable.

5. Yulong Turbo

Well bred colt who caught the eye at his debut in Adelaide on December 12.  He did a bit wrong but looked to have plenty of ability, steaming down the outside to swamp his rivals.  He has won a recent jump out at Flemington in good time and the booking of Damian Lane only enhances his chances.

6. Marine One

Marine One returned to the races with a nice closing fifth in the Blue Diamond Preview.  He is well drawn and is not with out a chance here.  Consider for multiples.

7. Jigsaw

Stylish winner at his Geelong debut which was backed up on the clock.  Has since jumped out very well with last years Blue Diamond winner Tagaloa at Cranbourne.  He should be able to settle in the first couple in the run and is a key winning hope.

8. Umgawa

Safely held at Flemington on debut.  Not likely here.

9. Kallos

Not beaten far at Moonee Valley but that was in a much easier race.  Would need to improve many lengths to be a factor here.

10. Almighty Rising

First start from team Hawkes.  Appeared to have a lot more to offer when running third under a vice like grip in a recent jump out.  Big watch.

11. Hitotsu

$100,000 purchase.   Both his recent jump out and jump out in the spring were good but this is a tough assignment on debut.
