Track: Soft Weather: Fine

A very open field to contest this year that sees little seperate the first few in the market. King Of Sparta didn’t have much luck last run and will be suited by the drying surface. It has the turn of foot to win this race. Oxley Road also raced with little luck first up being beaten by Mileva who has returned in good fashion. Streets Of Avalon is as tough of old boots and Mariamia gets the servies of Jamie Kah. Expecting the tempo to be strong with Streets Of Avalon pushing forward.

1. Streets Of Avalon (3)

Never won first up but tough as old boots and has form around the likes of Marabi. He was runner-up in this race in 2020 and in 2021. Will lead these up and if there is any on pace bias on the day Streets Of Avalon is worth serious consideration.

2. Scallopini (5)

Consistent operator who would love some cut in the ground with a soft record of 4 wins from 5 goes. If the ground stays in the soft range and it gets conditions to suit it should be in this for a long way.

3. Aysar (6)

Always looks well placed and continues to disappoint. There is no doubt about this horses ability but the 2 wins from 17 starts is some concern. It would be no shock to see it win but backing it would require banking on luck.

4. Sartorial Splendor (7)

Good return and was in a bunched finish with plenty of these. Has strong claims off that but also hasn’t won for over a year now. Top 4 chance.

5. William Thomas (4)

Hasn’t won for a long time and that on itself is hard to trust. I would like to see it post another win before considering. Can’t have.

6. Oxley Road (8)

Had no luck first up and started heavily in the market. 1/1 over this track and trip and now we get $6.00 about Oxley Road. They look odds worth taking and it can bounce back in this with a kinder run in transit.

7. King Of Sparta (1)

Didn’t have any luck last start but barrier 1 probably isn’t the best for King Of Sparta who does like room to move. If it had drawn wide I would have been keen but the map is the query. Hard to beat on class and form.

8. Mileva (10)

Great return fending off Bless Her. Daniel Moor sticks and Mileva looks to keep her unbeaten record at Caulfield alive. Hard to beat but short enough in the market at the moment.

9. Felicia (2)

Felicia comes through the same race as a few of these. Should be strips fitter for the first up run and drawn to get a nice time in transit. Williams knows the mare well and this is a winnable race for her.

10. Mariamia (9)

Mariamia is a very good operator. Jamie Kah is in very good form and takes over the reins. A recent trial was a nice piece of work and this is a suitable race for her. Go back last prep and she gave Probabeel a good old scare, that kind of run will see her very hard to beat in this.
