Our Sandown Hillside Horse Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting
Abreed (Sandown Hillside Race 4 No. 2)
It was hard not to be impressed with what this 3 yo colt did at his Geelong debut. He settled back in field and on the inside of runners, which was not the spot to be, and then powered to the line running the fastest last 200m of the day to win by 1.75 lengths. He is well suited drawn out in barrier 8 and his breeding suggests the step up in trip to 1600m will be to his liking. This is a competitive mid week benchmark 70 but if he can handle the firmer footing he will be very hard to beat here.

Each Way
Excelleration (Sandown Hillside Race 8 No. 11):
Excelleration is one start for one win. There was good money around for him at his Terang debut and he could not of been more impressive settling back in the field and rattling home down the outside fence to win by just under 3 lengths. He draws wide here but they have had no trouble running on at Sandown in recent weeks. He looks well above average and has a great each way chance at $7.50.

Best Lay
Pay The Man (Sandown Hillside Race 3 No. 6):
In what looks a tough day to find a definitive lay, I am going with Pay The Man. The McEvoy runner won by a big margin last start in South Australia but there was a lot of pace on in that race which did set it up for her coming from the rear of the field. She is up in grade here and trying the 2400m for the first time.

Key Comments The track is in the soft range. The best bet comes off a soft last start win and can take the leap from maiden grade. Best Bet Alliri (Kembla Grange Race 4 No. 5) Won nicely last start and despite the drift can take the next step here. Drawn wide but takes weight off with the claim and looks a progressive enough type to take this out. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
