Our Moonee Valley Horse Racing Tips for Saturday’s meeting.

Mr Brightside (Moonee Valley Race 2 No. 8)

Mr Brightside is a progressive four year old gelding trained by Ben & JD Hayes.  He has won his last three including last start at Sandown where he beat a strong benchmark 70 field over the mile.   He is rock hard fit and profiles well to win again here.

Each Way

Mac ‘n’ Cheese (Moonee Valley Race 6 No. 4):

Talented three year old filly who returns to the races after an eight week let up.  She was desperately unlucky at her first two Victorian starts, then went to Adelaide and after settling last stormed home from the back to reel in the leader who had kicked strongly on the bend.  She looks well above average and has a great each way chance here if they are able to make ground.

Best Lay

September Run (Moonee Valley Race 5 No. 8):

September Run is rated a $3.60 chance in early betting markets.  After a terrific spring in 2020 she failed to win a race in the Autumn and is yet to win at this distance.  She maps to be back in the field and could be a spotting them a big start which is never easy over 1000m.   Happy to risk.

Best Bet | Race 8 #2 Morethannumberone Must be with this progressive 5yo trained at the Gold Coast track by the shrewd Michael Costa. He was electric winning last start at this track and really should be unbeaten from three starts this campaign. Instead, he’s won two from three, with the blemish coming when caught wide two starts back at Doomben. The form out of that race looks good now with Lasting Kiss continuing to win. He has a wide gate here but there’s not a lot of speed and Andrew Mallyon

Best Bets Our Belmont Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Kaptain Kaos (Belmont Race 2 No. 2) This four-year-old Demerit gelding trained by Michael Grantham has five wins and three places from nine starts. When resuming after 15 weeks he charged ahead late for a 0.3 length win over 1200m at Belmont on 7 August, then arrived late for a 0.2 length win over 1200m at Belmont on 28 August. The extra 200m should suit and he should be hard to beat. $1.90
