This lightly-raced Pierro gelding has 2 wins and 4 places from 10 starts, and both of the wins have been at this distance. He ran on strongly out wide to finish 0.75 lengths 2nd over 1400m at Caulfield on 18 April, then took the lead at the 250m and kicked clear for a 1.5 length win over 1600m at Flemington on 16th May. That was a dominant win and he should be able to win again here.

Mahamedeis (Caulfield Race 9 No. 8):
This five-year-old gelding trained by Nick Ryan has placed at his last two starts and goes well over this distance. He kept working to the line out wide to finish 3.25 lengths, 0.1 length 3rd over 1600m at Caulfield on 9 May where he seemed to want further, then just missed for 0.1 length 2nd over 2000m at Flemington on 16 May. He has Rhys McLeod aboard again who has ridden him at his last two runs and is worth an each-way bet at the current price.

This Written Tycoon gelding trained by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra is the early favourite in this two-year-old handicap. He has only had one start where he jumped awkwardly and raced tight for 50m in the straight to finish 0.2 length, 0.1 length 3rd over 1000m at Flemington on 16 May. He was backed in from $16 to $11 in that race but is up against a few horses who won last start and does not look like value.
