Our Devonport Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Reite Den Blitz (Devonport Race 5 No. 3)
Resuming here after a 25 week spell this four-year-old Night Of Thunder mare goes well first-up. She placed in Melbourne at her last two starts where she chased solidly along the rails for 1.3 lengths 3rd over 1100m at Caulfield on 29 May, then finished 1.5 lengths 3rd over 1000m at Sandown on 14 July. Has a 3 kg claim here and looks the leading chance.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Has The Look (Devonport Race 4 No. 7):
This four-year-old Toronado mare trained by Nigel Schuuring has one win and three places from 15 starts. She was closing hard between runners when she ran into a dead end and finished 1.6 lengths 4th over 1150m at Devonport on 3 December, then ran on out wide for 1.8 lengths 4th over 1430m at Hobart on 19 December. With two 4ths in a row she looks ready to run into the placings here.

Best Lay

Michbar (Devonport Race 6 No. 3):
This four-year-old Whittington gelding trained by Adam Trinder is the early favourite in this BM 68 handicap over 1150m. He was pipped at the post for 0.1 length 2nd over 1150m at Devonport on 3 December, then took a split for a 1.2 length win over 1150m at Devonport on 22 December. Will run his usual honest race but others offer better value.
