Our Launceston Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Assaranca (Launceston Race 9 No. 2)
This four-year-old Nicconi mare has four wins and two places from 11 starts and is going well at the moment. She raced wide with no cover but then put the rest away easily with a four length win over 1600m at Launceston on 6 October, then won by 0.1 length over 1620m at Launceston on 22 October. Three of her wins have been at this track and she looks the leading chance here.

Each Way

Gee Gee Manpower (Launceston Race 7 No. 3):
This five-year-old Wordsmith gelding trained by Stuart Gandy has three wins and eight places from 25 starts. At the end of last campaign he peaked on his run to finish 5.3 lengths 6th over 1400m at Launceston on 2 April, then was spelled for 29 weeks. When resuming he worked home steadily for 2.4 lengths 4th over 1420m at Launceston on 22 October. Generally improves second-up and looks a good each-way bet.

$5.00

Best Lay

Laylow Pluck (Launceston Race 3 No. 1):
This four-year-old Pluck gelding has placed once from four starts and is the early favourite in this 3YO & up Maiden over 1100m. He chased ahrd for 1.4 lengths 5th over 1200m at Hobart on 24 January, then got to the lead before being grabbed in the final 100m and finishing 1.4 lengths 3rd over 1400m at Hobart on 7 February. Resumes after a 38 week break and has won a trial. Has a big weight and wide draw so am prepared to risk him.

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Wednesday 24th April 2024

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Best Bet Muscle Up (Devonport Synthetic Race 6 No. 1) Muscle Up led
