Our Launceston Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Julius (Launceston Race 4 No. 1)
This four-year-old Time For War gelding has three wins from four starts. He never really looked likely when 7.85 lengths 8th over 1200m at Launceston on 23 October, then resumed after 17 weeks for a 1.75 length win over 1100m at Launceston on 24 February. He looks to have more class than the others in this field and should win again.

raced away to the line for a 6 length win over 2100m at Launceston on a soft track on 10 February, then kept going for a 3 length win over 2100m at Launceston on 24 February to bring up 3 wins in a row.  He is flying at the moment and at this track and distance he should win again.

Each Way

Needadollarbill (Launceston Race 5 No. 1):
This four-year-old Wordsmith gelding has one win and four places from ten starts. He was very close when 0.2 length 2nd over 1350m at Devonport on 16 August, then only ground home for 3.85 lengths 4th over 1350m at Devonport on 30 August. Resuming here after 29 weeks he is primed to go and has trialled very well. He looks a nice each-way bet.

Best Lay

Ravage (Launceston Race 2 No. 1):
This five-year-old Anacheeva gelding has two wins and seven places from 15 starts and is the early favourite in this BM 60 handicap over 1600m. He finished 0.1, 0.2 length 3rd in a  tight finish over 1400m at Launceston on 21 February, then only got going late for 0.2, 0.5 length 3rd over 1390m at Hobart on 14 March. He is up in weight and offers no value here.

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 4th October 2024

Key Comments The track is in the good range. The best bet has some strong lines and resumes from a break with Fry in the saddle. Best Bet Colleano (Warrnambool Race 7 No. 1) Brings some tidy form lines into this contest including a debut win over Quickster which reads well for this. Recent jumpouts have been rock solid and Fry does the steering from the kind draw. The early market support is a positive sign. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce

Key Comments It's an evening meeting with the first race at 5.40pm. The turf track is rated soft and the rail is +5 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Cryptic Prism (Sunshine Coast Race 4 No. 8) He’s only had 2 starts. He won on debut over 1100m at Rockhampton then was runner-up over 1000m at Sunshine Coast where he ran on well. The 1200m should suit and he rates highly. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson
