Best bet comes up in the first with CAPTAIN DAVE. Pretty simple this one, he went enormous last start against the pattern from a disgusting draw and should get all favours up on speed here drawn Gate 3 with Chelsea Baker on board. I think he’s pretty much a living breathing moral*. Can’t have the opening favourite anywhere near the $2.30 it’s opened up, had all favours on a leaders deck last start.
* I’d probably take red figures if bandages weren’t going on here – no real concern as horse hasn’t had many health issues, and is likely a precautionary gear change.

Buel (Hobart Race 3 No. 14):
BUEL hasn’t been sighted since his trial in November 2021 where he raced green as a grass behind Geegeeluckytar, who’s proven to be a serviceable horse since then. I think they’ve kept him hidden to pull off a cheeky sting and collect the TASBRED bonuses available. Siggy Carr goes straight on from a wide alley, if she can be 3 wide with cover or even up on speed this 2YO could prove hard to hold out.

Tarkine Eagle (Hobart Race 8 No. 3):
Tricky card to find a LAY of the day, but I think I’ll be doing so in the last with opening favourite, TARKINE EAGLE. I do have him marginal favourite in this but this is certainly his hardest task to date, and I could back runners 1,4,6 or even 8 to beat him here – providing it’s a genuinely run race. 1400m probably sees him out and I think there’s enough talent in this field to take him on at the current quote. I’ll be also laying him the place if he remains so short in the market.

Key Comments 8 race card on a good 4 track. The best bet is in the first and looks placed to win off the back of a sound return off a long break. Best Bet Media World (Kembla Grange Race 1 No. 3) This 2yo Colt was sound first up without much luck and looks set for better races than this. Key Comments The rail is in 3 metres and the track is heavy. Just 6 races on the small card and the best bet is in the first. Best Bet Grand Horizon (Taree Race 1 No. 3) Gets barrier 1 and this 4yo Mare boasts 2 placings on the track and looks nicely placed against this bunch.
