Best bet – Race 3 #8 Safeeya
I love where this 4yo mare gets to in the run from a perfect gate. From barrier three she has the speed to sit handy, just in behind the leaders who are drawn wide. The other big positive is she handles this tricky Eagle Farm track. Since coming to Queensland to be trained by the legendary Lee Freedman, she’s raced twice for a win and a third. The win came here at Eagle Farm and she did it very easily beating Adelase who has continued winning races so the form looks good.
Next best – Race 1 #7 Snowdrop
Has only been with local trainer Chris Anderson for one start – and it was very solid. She was well supported in the market, but from the widest gate she was three wide the trip (although she did have cover). That was way back in April and she’s since had a very nice trial where she won easily. She’s drawn out again, but with the smaller field I think she can either lead or sit outside the other likely leader (She’s Heavenly).
Best each-way – Race 6 #1 Genzai The Wolf
A real favourite of mine because he rarely runs a bad race – especially at Eagle Farm. From nine starts here, he’s won two and only missed the top three twice. He will get back and I hope they inject some pace in the race for him to storm home late. The form around his past two starts looks exceptional with a second and third to the airborne Shooting For Gold. I think he’s a great each way chance.
