Best Bet | Race 4 #1 Prince of Boom

Prince of Boom went into the blackbook after his first-up run when well-backed. He didn’t have much go his way on that occasion when beaten by stablemate Startantes. They meet again here but I’m confident Prince of Boom will improve significantly from that first-up effort, and he also meets Startantes 2kg better at the weights. From barrier three there should be no excuses and Luke Dittman will be wanting revenge after getting it wrong on the horse last start.

Next best | Race 1 #2 Dis Dah Wun

After putting together four straight wins in Queensland late last year, Dis Dah Wun has run solid races despite being unable to returns to the winners’ circle. I think she finds the right race here and the claim for in-form apprentice Leah Kilner is a huge positive. She’s also drawn perfectly to get the run of the race. Last start she ran well behind the talented Miami Fliess. This is much easier and she’s ready to win again.

Each-Way Bet | Race 5 #8 Better Lad

Another from the blackbook after his run three starts ago. He subsequently got the cash next start at the Sunshine Coast beating Aswaat, who has since won two in a row. Better Lad then ran OK in a tougher race here at Doomben. This time he steps up to the mile and is drawn much better in pole position. There’s very little speed in the race so he could sit right behind the leaders with Ryan Maloney aboard.
