Our Rosehill Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.
The main race is the $160,000 Group 3 Festival Stakes (race 7).
Phaistos (Rosehill Race 7 No. 6)
This Helmet colt trained by James Cummings has placed at both starts since resuming from an 18 week spell. He chased hard the entire straight for 0.75 length 2nd in the Listed Weekend Hussler over 1400m at Caulfield on 10 October, then battled on steadily on the heavy track for 5 lengths, 0.5 length 3rd in the Listed Sale Cup over 1600 on 25 October. He has placed in a trial since then and has won previously at this track and distance. Should be hard to beat in the feature race.

Each Way
He Runs Away (Rosehill Race 2 No. 1):
This seven-year-old gelding from the Chris Waller stable is in great form and has won three of his last four starts. He blundered in the heavy going at the 400m but kept chasing and had the best last 200m race sectional when 1.3, 1.3 lengths 3rd over 2400m at Rosehill on 7 November, then won by a comfortable 2.75 lengths over 2200m at Doomben on 14 November. He takes a 2kg claim and looks a good each-way chance.

Promotions (Rosehill Race 4 No. 5):
This four-year-old Exceed And Excel gelding trained by James Cummings is the early favourite in this BM 78 handicap over 1300m. He took over at the 300m but was headed at the 200m and battled on for 1.3 lengths 2nd over 1400m at Kensington on 21 October, then only battled in the straight for 2.8, 0.1 length 3rd on soft going over 1300m at Rosehill on 7 November. He looks more likely to place than to win.
