Our Rosehill Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. The feature is the Group 3 Festival Stakes (race 8).

Brookspire (Rosehill Race 9 No. 4)
This four-year-old Hinchinbrook mare trained by Chris Waller has three wins and two places from eight starts. When resuming after 16 weeks she found the front at the 300m and raced away for a 3.5 length win over 1400m at Kensington on heavy going on 25 August, then was wide with no cover in the middle stages before finishing 1.8 lengths 5th over 1500m at the Rosehill at Kembla Grange meeting on 11 September. Back from a let-up and a proven performer on rain-affected going. Rates highly.

Each Way

Brutality (Rosehill Race 8 No. 13):
This five-year-old Shamus Award gelding trained by Joe Pride has five wins and seven places from 21 starts. When resuming from a 17 week spell he kept chasing from well back for 5.8 lengths 11th over 1200m at Randwick on 23 October, then chased hard from well back in the field for 5 lengths 3rd over 1300m at Newcastle on 13 November with the best last 800m race sectional. Has won two from three at Rosehill and has several wins in the wet. Looks a good each-way chance here.

Best Lay

Francesco Guardi (Rosehill Race 10 No. 9):
This four-year-old Frankel gelding trained by Chris Waller is the early favourite in this BM 78 Handicap over 1500m. His first five starts were in Britain where he won his first start over 1402m. He kept chasing once clear for 1.3 lengths 4th over 1400m at Rosehill on 6 November, then kept chasing but was no match for the winner late when 0.4 length 2nd over 1500m at Rosehill on 17 November. Without knowing how he will handle the heavy track I am prepared to risk him here.

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 21st April 2024

Key Comments The track is Soft and the rail is +1 metre the entire circuit. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Best Bet Thespian Waters (Hobart Race 3 No. 1) Aiming for a hat-trick here after back-to-back wins at Launceston. He’s back to his
