Chris Waller has four runners in this BM 88 Handicap over 2000m and our top pick is this four-year-old Press Statement gelding with four wins and four places from nine starts. When resuming from a 14 week spell he won by 0.3 length over 1400m at Randwick on 18 December, then kept chasing for 0.7 length 2nd over 1550m at Kensington after racing too keen early. Up in distance and with barrier 1 he is the leading hope.

This six-year-old Demerit gelding trained by Kris Lees has nine wins and five places from 28 starts. He chased hard to reach the front in the final stages for a 0.6 length win in the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap over 1200m at Randwick on 11 December, then was held up from the 300-100m and kept chasing when clear for 1,2 lengths 2nd in the Listed Christmas Classic over 1200m at Canterbury on 7 January. Goes well at Randwick and looks a good each-way chance.

This four-year-old gelding from the Chris Waller stable is the early favourite in this BM 88 Handicap over 1600m. At the end of last campaign he reached the front at the 250m and kept going for a 1.7 lengths win over 2000m at Randwick on 9 October. When resuming he chased hard for 1.3 lengths 2nd over 1400m at Rosehill on 8 January with the best last 200m race sectional of the day at distance. The wide barrier is a concern and I’m prepared to risk him here.
