Our Newcastle Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Feature races are the $1 million The Hunter (race 8), $300,000 The Beauford (race 6), Group 3 NJC Spring Stakes (race 7) and Max Lees Classic for 2YOS (race 1).

Norwegian Bliss (Newcastle Race 9 No. 11)
This four-year-old El Roca mare trained by Nathan Doyle is unbeaten with three wins from three starts. She won by 2.3 lengths in an 1100m maiden at Port Macquarie in September then led all the way for a 3.8 length win over 1300m in a Class 1 at Newcastle on 12 October, then was a 0.4 length winner over 1250m at Canterbury Park on 27 October. Will be hard to beat again.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Tampering (Newcastle Race 4 No. 4):
This five-year-old Pendragon gelding trained by Kerry Parker has five wins and six places from 27 starts. He battled on well for 0.7 length 3rd over 1600m at Randwick on 18 September, then battled away for 1.9 length 5th in The Four Pillars over 1500m at Rosehill on 30 October. Drawn well in barrier 2 and looks a good each-way bet here

Best Lay

Gravina (Newcastle Race 10 No. 6):
This four-year-old Sebring stallion trained by James Cummings has three wins and six places from 12 starts and is the early favourite in this BM 88 handicap over 1300m. He chased hard for 0.1 length 2nd over 1200m at Randwick on 2 October, then chased hard when clear for 0.4 length 3rd over 1200m at Randwick on 23 October. He was favourite at both those starts and is starting to get expensive.

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 21st April 2024

Key Comments The track is Soft and the rail is +1 metre the entire circuit. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Best Bet Thespian Waters (Hobart Race 3 No. 1) Aiming for a hat-trick here after back-to-back wins at Launceston. He’s back to his
