Our Randwick Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Day 1 of The Championships with four Group 1 races, a Group 2 race, four Group 3 races and the Country Championship.

The Irishman (Randwick Race 2 No. 4)
This Tavistock colt trained by Mark Newnham has two wins and two places from five starts. He resumed from a nine week break for a narrow win over 1400m at Warwick Farm on 3 March where he fought hard to get the bob in, then chased hard to find the front at the 220m but was run down late for 0.4 length 2nd behind Hungry Heart in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes. He is fitter now and should win this.

Lightsaber (Randwick Race 6 No. 3):

This Zoustar colt trained by Peter Moody has three wins and a 2nd from his four starts. He won by 2.25 length over 1400m at Sandown Hillside on 17 February, then won by 1.5 lengths in the Group 2 Sires Produce over 1400m at Flemington on 6 March. They were both good wins and he is the only horse in the field to have won over the 1400m distance of the ATC Sires Produce. He looks an excellent each-way bet.

Best Lay

Never Talk (Randwick Race 10 No. 6):
This No Nay Never filly has five wins and a place from nine starts and is the early favourite in the Group 3 P J Bell Stakes for three-year-old fillies over 1200m. She did well for 0.2 lengths 2nd in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes over 1200m on 13 February, then kept chasing for 4.2 lengths 4th in the Group 1 Surround Stakes over 1400m at Randwick om 27 February. She is a good filly but as all her wins have been in the 900m to 1100m range I am prepared to risk her here.
