Our Ascot Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

The feature races is the Karrakatta Plate over 1200m (race 8).

Pletto (Ascot Race 6 No. 9)
This five-year-old Playing God mare has four wins and eight places from 12 starts. She had a good final 400m sectional when she finished 0.65 length 2nd over 1400m at Bunbury on 6 March, then peeled three wide and ran on strongly for a 0.38 length win over 1400m at Ascot on 20 March. With barrier 2 and William Pike riding she should win again.

Each Way

Scooter’s Machine (Ascot Race 1 No. 1):
This six-year-old Maschino gelding is running well at the moment. He tried hard but couldn’t catch the leader when 1.68 lengths 2nd over 1200m at Bunbury on 6 March, then was running 2nd before fading late over 1400m at Ascot on 20 March. Back to a shorter trip he looks a good each-way bet.

Best Lay

Billy Ain’t Silly (Ascot Race 3 No. 1):
This I’m All the Talk gelding is the early favourite in this 3YO Handicap over 1400m. He resumed after 29 weeks for 0.07, 2.2 lengths 3rd over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 3 March, then led all the way for a 1.34 length win over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 18 March. This is a tougher race and he doesn’t represent value.

Best Bets Our Eagle Farm Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Junction (Eagle Farm Race 7 No. 5) This six-year-old Real Saga gelding trained by Mark Currie at Toowoomba has eight wins and 10 places from 35 starts. He didn't seem to like the heavy going when he finished 3.8 lengths 7th in the Listed Australian Turf Club Trophy over 1400m at the Gold Coast on 13 March, then was going well until hampered at the 150m and getting swamped late for 0.7 length 4th over 1400m

Best Bets Our Caulfield Horse Racing Tips for Saturday 17th April 2021. Mahamedeis (Caulfield Race 1 No. 2) Mahamedeis should be close to full fitness now and produced his best run of the preparation last start at Caulfield in the Easter Cup.  He moved into the race stylishly on the turn only to be collared late by two horses that would be short odds here.  He gets in extremely well at the weights and will only have to hold his form to be winning. $2.10
