Our Ascot Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

The feature races is the Karrakatta Plate over 1200m (race 8).

Pletto (Ascot Race 6 No. 9)
This five-year-old Playing God mare has four wins and eight places from 12 starts. She had a good final 400m sectional when she finished 0.65 length 2nd over 1400m at Bunbury on 6 March, then peeled three wide and ran on strongly for a 0.38 length win over 1400m at Ascot on 20 March. With barrier 2 and William Pike riding she should win again.

Each Way

Scooter’s Machine (Ascot Race 1 No. 1):
This six-year-old Maschino gelding is running well at the moment. He tried hard but couldn’t catch the leader when 1.68 lengths 2nd over 1200m at Bunbury on 6 March, then was running 2nd before fading late over 1400m at Ascot on 20 March. Back to a shorter trip he looks a good each-way bet.

Best Lay

Billy Ain’t Silly (Ascot Race 3 No. 1):
This I’m All the Talk gelding is the early favourite in this 3YO Handicap over 1400m. He resumed after 29 weeks for 0.07, 2.2 lengths 3rd over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 3 March, then led all the way for a 1.34 length win over 1200m at Pinjarra Park on 18 March. This is a tougher race and he doesn’t represent value.

Horse Racing Tips: QLD Thursday 16th January 2025

Key Comments The track is rated heavy and the rail is in the true position. Best Bet Becca (Beaudesert Race 2 No. 5) Led all the way for a length win over 1100m at Gatton on 20th December. That was her only start and she should be speedy enough to win again. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Decrypt (Beaudesert Race 6 No. 1) Runner-up at Toowoomba last start and looks

Horse Racing Tips: Hong Kong Wednesday 15th January 2025

Key Comments There is a 9-race program under the lights at Happy Valley. The rail is in the B position for the meeting and with no rain expected in the lead-up the surface should be good. The first race is at 6.40 pm Hong Kong time which is 9.40 pm AEST. Best Bet Northern Fire Ball (Happy Valley Race 7 No. 2) Won by 1.8 lengths at this track and distance on 26th December to break his maiden at start number 5. Zac

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Thursday 16th January 2025

Key Comments The track is in the soft range. The best bet comes off a soft last start win and can take the leap from maiden grade. Best Bet Alliri (Kembla Grange Race 4 No. 5) Won nicely last start and despite the drift can take the next step here. Drawn wide but takes weight off with the claim and looks a progressive enough type to take this out. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Thursday 16th January 2025

Key Comments On pace runners typically suited here. Keen to kick the day off with a winner and the best bet has the quality to overcome the wide draw and score. Best Bet Tom (Seymour Race 1 No. 5) Excellent effort on debut running second in open company. Beaten easily but that effort is well and truly good enough for this field. Has to handle the wide draw and this race is suitable. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker
