Our Ascot Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

The feature races are the G3 W.A. Oaks for 3YO fillies (race 8) and the Melvista Stakes over 2200m (race 4).

Miss Conteki (Ascot Race 9 No. 11)
This four-year-old Eurozone mare trained by Simon Miller has four wins from five starts. At the end of last campaign she took over at the 150m and dashed away for a 1.48 length win over 1000m at Ascot on 13 May, then resumed from a 43 week spell for a 1.86 length win over 1000m at Ascot on 10 March where she had the best final 400m sectional of the meeting. She looks to be a special mare and should win again.

Each Way

Some Sort (Ascot Race 7 No. 1):
This four-year-old Snippetson gelding has four wins and two places from 10 starts. He struggled in two races in February 2020 and went for a 31 week spell then resumed with a 1.38 length win over 1100m at Kalgoorlie on 3 October. Following the one run he has been spelled for a further 23 weeks but won a recent trial and should run well enough first-up to be worth an each-way bet.

Best Lay

Kia Ora Star (Ascot Race 5 No. 1):
This seven-year-old Blackfriars gelding is the early favourite in this Graduation Handicap, One Metro Win over 1800m. He tried hard when 1.93 lengths 4th over 1600m at Ascot on 20 February, then ran on strongly for a 3.47 length win over 1675m at Bunbury on 11 March. That was his 4th win from 40 starts, and I think he will find it too hard to put together back-to-back wins.

Best Bets – Eagle Farm, 17 April 2021

A very tough nine race program at Eagle Farm with two Listed races as the winter carnival draws closer. We know what we get with this surface and it's already rated a Good 4, which will remain until raceday. Given the evenness of this program, we only have two bets as I couldn't find a 'next best'.  Let's hope this pair can salute at some nice odds. Best Bets Our Eagle Farm Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Junction (Eagle Farm Race 7 No. 5) This six-year-old Real Saga gelding trained by Mark Currie at Toowoomba has eight wins and 10 places from 35 starts. He didn't seem to like the heavy going when he finished 3.8 lengths 7th in the Listed Australian Turf Club Trophy over 1400m at the Gold Coast on 13 March, then was going well until hampered at the 150m and getting swamped late for 0.7 length 4th over 1400m
