Our Ascot Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

The feature races are the Ascot 1000 Guineas for 3YO fillies (race 7) and the Lex Piper Stakes (race 5).

Tambora (Ascot Race 6 No. 6)
This three-year-old gelding from the Darren McAuliffe stable has two wins and a place from three starts. He led but faded a little in the final 150m for 2.05 lengths 2nd over 1600m at Ascot on 9 January, then led all the way and hung on for a 0.58 length win over 1400m at Bunbury on 11 February. He drops 5kg from his last run and has the ability to win again.

Each Way

Indigo Blue (Ascot Race 7 No. 2):
This three-year-old Blackfriars filly has one wins and three places from seven starts, and has shown staying potential. She was a very close 2nd in the Group 3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes over 1600m at Ascot on 14 November before a 12 week spell, then resumed for 3.22 lengths 10th over 1300m at Pinjarra Park on 6 February. She won at Belmont in her only previous second-up attempt and looks a nice each-way bet.

Best Lay

Tommy Blue (Ascot Race 8 No. 3):
This four-year-old Gingerbread Man mare has two wins and five places from 12 starts and is the early favourite in this One Metro Win handicap over 1400m. She just battled to the line for 2.8 lengths 6th over 1200m at Pinjarra, then boxed on for 1.68 lengths 4th over 1200m at Ascot on 13 February. I don’t think the 1400m will suit and am prepared to risk her here.

Best Bets – Eagle Farm, 17 April 2021

A very tough nine race program at Eagle Farm with two Listed races as the winter carnival draws closer. We know what we get with this surface and it's already rated a Good 4, which will remain until raceday. Given the evenness of this program, we only have two bets as I couldn't find a 'next best'.  Let's hope this pair can salute at some nice odds. She sprinted to the front at the 150m and won by a length in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude over 1400m at Caulfield

Best Bets Our Eagle Farm Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Junction (Eagle Farm Race 7 No. 5) This six-year-old Real Saga gelding trained by Mark Currie at Toowoomba has eight wins and 10 places from 35 starts. He didn't seem to like the heavy going when he finished 3.8 lengths 7th in the Listed Australian Turf Club Trophy over 1400m at the Gold Coast on 13 March, then was going well until hampered at the 150m and getting swamped late for 0.7 length 4th over 1400m
