Our Flemington Horse Racing Tips for Saturday’s meeting.

The feature is the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (race 5).

Nicolini Vito (Flemington Race 8 No. 4)

Nicolini Vito’s performance fresh at 1200m was terrific and he looks very well placed to make it back to back wins here.  The extra distance, fitness and map are all in his favour.  My only query would be if the track was to reach the heavy range by jump time which at this stage looks unlikely.

Veranskova (Flemington Race 3 No. 13):

Have always had plenty of time for this lightly raced five year old mare trained by Cindy Alderson.  She was an eye catcher here first up over 1000m when rattling home to just miss Squid Game in a photo finish.  Has jumped out very nicely in between runs and can settle much closer with a cleaner jump.  The extra 100m in distance suits as does the booking of Mark Zahra.  May just be better than these?

King Of Sparta (Flemington Race 5 No. 3):

Was a narrow winner of the Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield a fortnight ago.  That was a solid performance but he started $7.50 in that and we are now being asked to take $2.60 in arguably a harder race which may not be run to suit.  One of the chances but is not a betting proposition for me at the current quote.

$2.60

Key Comments The feature is the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic for fillies & mares (race 6). The track is Good and the rail is +5 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Siren Assault (Ascot Race 1 No. 1) This filly won 2 in a row before a game 5th in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate over 1200m here on 20th April. Provided she can handle the 7 day back-up she will be too good for this field. Check odds on SmartB Analyst:

Key Comments The rail is true. The track is in the soft range. The best bet is halfway through the day and surprised about the odds on offer for it still. Needs to lug weight but is a huge hope against this field. Best Bet Arctic Legend (Tamworth Race 5 No. 2) Steps up in grade but was nothing short of brilliant when resuming from a long break. Suited to this field. Should be able to go right on with things here and
