Our Ballarat Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

The main race is the $500,000 Ballarat Cup.

The Astrologist (Ballarat Race 9 No. 3)
This four-year-old Zoustar gelding trained by Leon and Troy Corstens has three wins and four places from nine starts. He resumed from a spell for a 2.75 length win over 1100m at Geelong on 21 October, then only went down in the last couple of strides for 0.2 lengths 2nd in the Listed MSS Security Sprint over 1200m at Flemington on 3 November. How to pick a winner

Each Way

Reflect The Stars (Ballarat Race 2 No. 6):
This five-year-old Starspangledbanner mare has three wins and six places from 18 starts. She resumed after 25 weeks for 2.65 lengths 7th over 1600m at Bendigo on 7 October, then chased hard out wide to get up on the line for a 0.1 length win over 2400m at Geelong on 21 October. Looks like a nice each-way bet here.

Best Lay

Lunakorn (Ballarat Race 6 No. 13):
This four-year-old mare trained by Anthony Freedman at Mornington is the early favourite in this BM 78 handicap for mares over 1200m. She resumed after 18 weeks for 2.8 lengths 12th over 1000m at Sandown Hillside on 9 September, then chased hard the entire straight for 0.75 lengths 2nd when favourite over 1200m at Mornington on 1 November. This is a very open race and she doesn’t represent value.

Horse Racing Tips: TAS Wednesday 24th April 2024

Key Comments The track is a synthetic tapeta-based surface and weather has minimal effect on how it races. The rail remains in the true position. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight. Horse Racing Tips: WA Wednesday 24th April 2024

Key Comments The track is rated Good and the rail is +7 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Platinum Shot (Pinjarra Race 7 No. 4) This filly just missed over 1400m at Geraldton last start Drawn perfectly and rates strongly. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson Each Way Cherry Can Run (Pinjarra Race 5 No. 5) Cherry Can Run finished 2nd at Narrogin last start, and normally runs well here. Looks worth an each-way bet.

Horse Racing Tips: QLD Wednesday 24th April 2024

Key Comments The track is rated as Heavy and the rail is +6 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Jonny Da Wolf (Ipswich Race 7 No. 4) This Chris Waller runner has placed at 4 of his 5 starts and is on a 7 day back-up. Should race on the speed and is ready to lose his maiden status. Horse Racing Tips: NSW Wednesday 24th April 2024

Key Comments The rail is in 7 metres. The track is in the soft range. Suspect runners may come wide later on in the day to be finding better ground. The best bet comes up at big odds. Best Bet Sing A Love Song (Newcastle Race 8 No. 5) Has always shown glimpses of talent across its career but does mix its form. Expect an economical run from barrier 5 and only 2 starts ago did hit the line hard crossing it with
