Spanish Heirloom (Port Lincoln Race 1 No. 1)
This four-year-old Barbados mare trained by Travis Doudle has had 11 starts for five wins and a place. She started favourite and just missed for 0.8 length 2nd over 1000m at Mindarie Halidon on 19 September, then led most of the way but was tiring late for a 0.7 length win over 1210m at Port Lincoln on 13 October. Claims 3kg and is back to her favurite distance. Should win.

Diamonds Are (Port Lincoln Race 7 No. 3):
This eight-year-old Foxwedge gelding trained by Megan Gillespie has 11 wins and 10 places from 57 starts. He came from last and worked home strongly for 2.6 lengths 3rd in the Kimba Cup over 1960m at Port Lincoln on 14 March, then was always well back when 7.7 lengths 8th over 1900m at Oakbank on 3 April. Resumes here after 30 weeks and goes well first-up. Looks a nice each-way chance.

Effortkat (Port Lincoln Race 8 No. 4):
This five-year-old Reward for Effort mare trained by Shayne Cahill is the early favourite in this Class 2 Handicap over 1000m. She battled solidly for 3.7 lengths 9th over 1000m at Murray Bridge on 5 September, then reeled in the leader late for a 0.7 length win over 1000m at Port Lincoln on 13 October. Has only won two of her 17 starts and I’m prepared to risk her here.
